LI Works Coalition & Goodwill Industries of Greater New York & Northern New Jersey Celebrate Their New Partnership on Long Island.

The relationship grew out of the complimentary strengths of the two non-profit groups, and is proof that in these difficult economic times, partnerships are a great way to help non-profit organizations continue their good work and expand their programs. This strengthened organization brings expanded resources to Long Island, and the partnership will bring immeasurable benefits to the region through additional services, employment opportunities and new programs as the two organizations explore their existing synergies.  LI Works will continue programs to prepare students for Long Island’s workforce across the region and expand into Goodwill’s service area.   Goodwill plans to expand their programs and services for people who have barriers to employment on Long Island, bringing enhanced opportunities to a population that needs it now more than ever before.

Long Island Works Coalition was created in 1999 to better connect Long Island's younger and emerging workforce to employment opportunities in the area.  Goodwill Industries, which was founded more than a century ago, provides vocational, training and job placement services, as well as in school and after-school programs. In 2008, Goodwill served more than 130,000 people in New York, Long Island, Northern New Jersey and upstate New York
